Mediation [Family Law]

Mediation Services at Schmiege, Graff & Koch LTD.
The mediation process is for individuals who are motivated to meet and try to reach an amicable resolution.   Mediation can be used at all stages of legal disputes involving the family, whether it is the initial divorce proceeding involving property division and custody/placement issues, or changes in a party’s circumstances that arise after a divorce or separation, such as one parent moving.

Mediation is also utilized by parties who have approached their divorce collaboratively and simply wish for an attorney to finalize the parties’ agreement and draft the appropriate court documents.

The mediator remains neutral and does not represent either party.  The mediator’s role is to facilitate the parties’ discussion in identifying the areas of disagreement, the areas of compromise and possible resolutions.
